Churchill railway station

Churchill railway station is a railway station located in the town of Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. It is served by the Hudson Bay Railway owned by the U. S-based OmniTRAX, as well as the national passenger carrier, Via Rail Canada. The station is located 820 kilometers northeast from The Pas, Manitoba, on the shore of Hudson Bay. The railway to Churchill was originally built by the Canadian National and completed in 1929.

Port of Churchill

The Port of Churchill in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada is a port on the Hudson Bay, part of the Arctic Ocean. It was once owned by the Government of Canada but was sold in 1997 to the American company OmniTRAX to run privately. The port has four deep-sea berths capable of handling Panamax-size vessels for the loading and unloading of grain, bulk commodities, general cargo, and tanker vessels. The port is connected to the Hudson Bay Railway, an affiliated company of OmniTRAX.

Hudson Bay expedition

The Hudson Bay expedition of Jean-François de Galaup, comte de La Pérouse was a series of military raids on the lucrative fur trading posts and fortifications of the Hudson's Bay Company on the shores of Hudson Bay by a squadron of the French Royal Navy. Setting sail from Cap-Français in 1782, the expedition was part of a global naval war between France and Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.
