Christian Island (Ontario)

Christian Island is a large island in Georgian Bay close to the communities of Penetanguishene and Midland, Ontario. The island, with its neighbours Hope Island and Beckwith Island, is a 5,428.1 hectares Ojibwa reserve, known as Christian Island 30 Indian Reserve.

Beausoleil First Nation

The Beausoleil First Nation is an Ojibwa (Chippewa) First Nation located in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. The Beausoleil First Nations occupies three Indian reserves. Their main Indian Reserve is the Christian Island 30 Indian Reserve, consisting of Christian Island, a large island in Georgian Bay close to the communities of Penetanguishene and Midland, Ontario, along with two other smaller islands.

Beckwith Island

Beckwith Island is the eastern of three islands in southeastern Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada. Like its populated neighbour Christian Island to the west, and Hope Island to the northwest, the uninhabited island is part of an Ojibwa reserve. On the mainland, Cedar Point lies directly south of the island and the popular Thunder Beach is located to the southeast of Beckwith Island. The eastern side of Beckwith island is often a favorite place for boats to moor.

Carhagouha

The historic site Carhagouha is the Huron/Wendat name for the site of the first Catholic Mass celebrated in Ontario, Canada on August 12, 1615 by Fr. Joseph Le Caron (member of the Recollets order) in the presence of French explorer, Samuel de Champlain, and the Wendat. Each year a Mass is celebrated to mark the anniversary. Hope Island (Ontario)

Hope Island is the northern of three islands in south eastern Georgian Bay. It was named by Henry Bayfield after he surveyed it in the 19th century. Like its neighbour Christian Island, the uninhabited island is part of an Ojibwa reserve. In 1884, a lighthouse was placed on the northwest side of the island.
