Dorchester Penitentiary

The Dorchester Penitentiary is a Canadian federal corrections facility located in the village of Dorchester, New Brunswick. It was opened on 14 July 1880 as a maximum security prison on a hill overlooking the Memramcook River valley; it is the second oldest federal corrections facility in Canada still in operation after the Kingston Penitentiary. The prison became notorious following World War II as it was responsible for all maximum security offenders in Atlantic Canada.

Westmorland County (2011 population 144,158) is a county in New Brunswick, a province of Canada. It is in the south-eastern part of the province. It contains the fast-growing commercial centre of Moncton and its northern and eastern suburbs. Also located in the county are the university town of Sackville and the tourist destination of Shediac.
