Ontario County, Ontario

Ontario County was the name of two historic counties in the Canadian province of Ontario. The original Ontario County existed from 1792 to 1800 as part of the Eastern District, and consisted of the islands in the St. Lawrence River. After 1800, Ontario County was dissolved and the islands were reassigned to the nearest mainland counties. The second Ontario County area 514,031 acres was created in 1852 from the East Riding of York County.

York–Durham Heritage Railway

The York–Durham Heritage Railway is a heritage railway in Uxbridge, Ontario, just north of Toronto. The railway operates excursion trains over a 20 km route between the historic towns of Stouffville, Goodwood and Uxbridge. The round trip takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Trains are scheduled from June through mid-October, and are pulled by an Alco RS-11 diesel locomotive, #3612, which was built for the Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific Railway in 1956 .
