Battleford

Battleford is a town located across the North Saskatchewan River from North Battleford, in Saskatchewan, Canada. Battleford and North Battleford are collectively referred to as the Battlefords by Saskatchewan residents, as well as on highway signage. Although there has been occasional talk of the two communities merging, as of 2012 they remain separate entities. The local economy is fuelled mainly by agriculture. Battleford is bordered by the Rural Municipality of Battle River No.

Fort Battleford

Fort Battleford was the sixth North-West Mounted Police fort to be established in the North-West Territories of Canada, and played a central role in the events of the North-West Rebellion / Resistance of 1885. It was there that Poundmaker was arrested, and that six Cree and two Stoney men were hanged for their participation in the Frog Lake Massacre and other killings. Fort Battleford is located at the centre of the junction of the North Saskatchewan and the Battle rivers.

Battleford (provincial electoral district)

Battleford was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It was one of the 25 ridings created when the province came into existence in 1905. It was replaced before the 1917 general election by combining this constituency with the North Battleford provincial district to create The Battlefords.

The Battlefords (provincial electoral district)

The Battlefords is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It includes the city of North Battleford and the adjoining town of Battleford. Collectively these communities are commonly known as "The Battlefords". The district was first established in 1917 from the urban portions of the constituencies of Battleford and North Battleford.

Government House (Battleford)

Government House in Battleford, Saskatchewan served as the seat for the government of the Northwest Territories between 1878 and 1883 (the area that now makes up Saskatchewan was part of the Northwest Territories until the province was created in 1905). The building was constructed in 1877 and was destroyed by fire in 2003. The site was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1973.
