Nossa Senhora do Monte, Cape Verde
Nossa Senhora do Monte is a village located in the heart of the island of Brava, Cape Verde. It was founded in 1826, and a few years later it became a bishopric. In 1862 Nossa Senhora do Monte became a place of pilgrimage. There are a sightworthy Catholic pilgrimage church and a smaller Adventist Church in the village. Several shops and small bars are to be found in Main Street. Several times a day, Nossa Senhora do Monte can be reached by "Aluguer" bus from Vila Nova de Sintra.

Brava, Cape Verde
Brava is an island in Cape Verde. It is the smallest inhabited island, but at the same time the greenest, of Cape Verde, in the Sotavento group. First settled in the 1540s, its population grew after Mount Fogo on neighbouring Fogo erupted in 1675. Its main industry was long whaling, but the island is now primarily agricultural.

From Nossa Senhora do Monte, a larger village in the middle of Brava, Campo Baixo is accessible by "Aluguer" busses. Campo Baixo is linked to the rest of the island by a good paved road. It is linked to Tantum, the nearest neighbouring village in the South, by a minor road.
