Geology of Chile

Tongoy

Tongoy is a Chilean coastal town in the commune of Coquimbo in Elqui Province, Coquimbo Region. It is located 42 km to the south of Chile's second oldest city, La Serena, next to the spa of Guanaqueros, on a rocky promontory opposite the Pacific Ocean, between the beaches of Socos (4 km) and Grande (26 km), to the north of the Talinay Mountain range.

San Julián, Chile

San Julian is a small town located on the south bank of the Limarí river, in Limarí Province, IV Region of Coquimbo, Chile, 15 km southwest of the city of Ovalle. Administratively it is part of the commune of Ovalle. The village is a long street around which the houses are located, usually somewhat distant from one another. The inhabitants are mainly small farmers who cultivate lands located between the street and the river, corresponding to a large terrace of Limarí Valley.
