Huairou District
Huairou District is situated in northern Beijing. Huairou District, covering an area of 2,557.3 square kilometres, is divided into 2 subdistricts of the city of Huairou, 12 towns and 2 ethnic rural townships with a population of 296,002 (2000 Census). It is 50 kilometers from the city center (about a 1½ to 2 hour drive); 90 percent of it is mountainous area. Its major agricultural products are chestnuts, walnuts, hawthorns, sweet pears, and apricots.

Hongluo Temple
The Hongluo Temple is one of the largest and most extensive Buddhist temples located in northern Beijing. It was first established during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), however it was rebuilt many times later, notably during the Ming Dynasty. The temple is located at the southern foot of the Hongluo Mountain, and covers an area of 7 hectares (17 acres). Its name, Hongluo Temple is also translated as Red Shells Temple.

Qincheng Prison
Qincheng Prison is a maximum-security prison located in the Changping District, Beijing in the People's Republic of China, near Xiaotangshan. The prison was built in 1958 with aid from the Soviet Union and it is the only prison belonging to the Ministry of Public Security. The Ministry of Justice operates other prisons. The majority of inmates are political prisoners, among them participants in the Chinese democracy movement and Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.

Gaoliying, Beijing
Gaoliying in Beijing is a small town just north of the Northern 6th Ring Road. At present (as of July 2004), it is also the northernmost extremity of the Jingcheng Expressway, a six-lane expressway linking central Beijing via Huairou District and Miyun County to Chengde in Hebei province. Gaoliying is in Shunyi District.

Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park
The Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park was built for the rowing, canoeing and 10 km open-water swimming events in the 2008 Summer Olympics. It is located in Mapo Village in the Shunyi District in Beijing. The first competitions at the venue were held in August 2007, a year ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games for which it was built.
