Triathlon at the 2008 Summer Olympics

The Triathlon competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics, in Beijing, were held on Monday, August 18 (women) and Tuesday, August 19 (men), on the Triathlon Venue at the Ming Tomb Reservoir in Shisanling. Each competitor started the event with a 1,500 metres swim course, followed by a 40 kilometres road bicycle race and finished with a 10 kilometres road run. Both leg transitions (swimming—cycling and cycling—running) were performed on a special transition area, under judge's scrutiny.

Triathlon Venue, Beijing

The Triathlon Venue — is one of nine temporary venues used for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The venue was used for the Triathlon events at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The Triathlon Venue is located at the Ming Dynasty Tomb Reservoir, in the Changping District of northern Beijing.

Nanshao Station

Nanshao Station is a station on the Changping Line of the Beijing Subway in China. It is the current northern terminus of the line, but this will change when phase II (north) of the line opens.

Qincheng Prison

Qincheng Prison is a maximum-security prison located in the Changping District, Beijing in the People's Republic of China, near Xiaotangshan. The prison was built in 1958 with aid from the Soviet Union and it is the only prison belonging to the Ministry of Public Security. The Ministry of Justice operates other prisons. The majority of inmates are political prisoners, among them participants in the Chinese democracy movement and Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.

Chinese Aviation Museum

The Chinese Aviation Museum, is also sometimes referred to as Datangshan due to its location adjacent to the mountain of the same name. The museum was first opened to the public on 11 November 1989, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Liberation Army Air Force. The museum is located 40 km north of Beijing city. Part of the museum is located inside a cave in the side of Datangshan Mountain.
