Shuimen Air Base

Shuimen Air Base is an air base under construction in China. The air base is built on a hilltop along the coast in Shuimen Township, Fujian Province and construction is nearly completed. First satellite images of the airbase occurred in 2009, with intelligence sources saying China had cleared a swathe of more than 2km at an altitude of 364m to make way for the airbase.

USS Tilefish (SS-307)

USS Tilefish (SS-307), a Balao-class submarine, was the only ship of the United States Navy to be named for the tilefish, a large, yellow-spotted deepwater food fish. Her keel was laid down on 10 March 1943 at Vallejo, California, by the Mare Island Navy Yard. She was launched on 25 October 1943 sponsored by Mrs. Wilson D. Leggett, and commissioned on 28 December 1943 with Lieutenant Commander Roger Myers Keithly in command.
