Luodian County
Luodian County (罗甸县) is a county-level administrative district in southwestern China, part of the Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture within Guizhou province. The climate in the area is humid subtropical, with strong monsoon influences bringing heavy rain during the summer. Winters are dry due to the influence of the Siberian high-pressure system. The county seat and the largest city in the county is also named Luodian; it was formerly known as Longping.

Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope
The Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) is a radio telescope under construction located in a natural basin (大窝凼洼地), in Pingtang County, Guizhou Province, southwest China. As of June 2011 construction should be complete by September 2016. It will be the world's largest and most sensitive radio telescope and three times more sensitive than the Arecibo Observatory. It will have a cost of 700 million yuan.
