Shandong Peninsula

The Shāndōng Peninsula also known as the Jiāodōng Peninsula (胶东半岛; 膠東半島) is a peninsula in the Shāndōng province of northeastern China. It marks the southern limit of the Bóhăi Sea. Cities on the peninsula include Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai. The local dialect of Mandarin, Jiao-Liao, is also spoken on the Liáodōng peninsula to the north across the Bóhăi Sea. The Shandong peninsula formed part of the German concessions in China from 1898 to 1914.

Battle of Tangdao

The naval Battle of Tangdao (唐岛之战) took place in 1161 between the Jurchen Jin and the Southern Song Dynasty of China on the East China Sea. It was an attempt by the Jin to invade and conquer the Southern Song Dynasty, yet resulted in failure and defeat for the Jurchens. The Jin Dynasty navy was set on fire by firearms and Fire Arrows, suffering heavy losses.

Haiyang

Haiyang, a coastal city in the peninsula province of Shandong in eastern China, is strategically located in the center of the prime tourist trio of Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai. Haiyang's claim to fame comes from its extensive sea beaches, national forest parks, wetland reserves, as well as its beautiful beach and yachting opportunities. On December 2, 2006 the Olympic Council of Asia in Doha announced the selection of Haiyang as the host city for 2012 Asian Beach Games.
