Tanggu District
Tanggu District was a district in the Tianjin municipality on the coast of north China, now part of the newly formed district of Binhai. It is on the Hai River where it enters the Bohai Sea, and is a port for Tianjin, which is about 30 miles (48 km) upriver. The Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area is within the city limits. The Tanggu Truce was signed in Tanggu.

Battle of Taku Forts (1860)
The Third Battle of Taku Forts was an engagement of the Second Opium War, part of the British and French 1860 expedition to China. It took place at the Taku Forts (also called Peiho Forts) near Tanggu District, approximately 60 kilometers (36 mi. ) southeast of Tianjin City.

Taku Forts
The Taku Forts or Dagu Forts, also called the Peiho Forts are forts located by the Hai River (Peiho River) estuary, in Tanggu District, Tianjin municipality, in northeastern China. They are located 60 km southeast of the Tianjin urban center.

Battle of Taku Forts (1858)
The First Battle of Taku Forts was the first invasion of Anglo-French alliance taking the Taku Forts on May 20, 1858. During the Second Opium War. The British and French sent a squadron of gunboats, under Admiral Sir Michael Seymour, to attack China's Taku Forts. The battle ended as an allied success. However the first phase of the Second Opium War would end with the Treaties of Tianjin and the forts were returned to the hands of the Qing Army, leading to the Second Battle of Taku Forts.

Sino-Steel Tower
The Sino-Steel Tower is a 333 m tall skyscraper under construction in Tianjin, China. Construction started in 2008 and it is expected to be complete in 2014. The building will contain offices and a hotel on 80 floors. The design by MAD Studio, Beijing, is for the building to be clad in white and pierced by recessed hexagonal windows. Some of the window surrounds will be crimson in colour, causing the building's appearance to alter with the changing light.
