Acosta is the name of the 12th canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 242.24 km², and has a population of 19,342. The capital city of the canton is San Ignacio. The mountainous canton begins in the Cerros de Escazú on the far western edge of the San José Metropolitan Area.

The capital city of the canton is also called Aserrí. The mountainous canton is delineated on the north by the Río Poás. It encompasses a narrow strip of land that traverses the Coastal Mountain Range before reaching the lowlands of Puntarenas Province, bordering the canton of Parrita.

Tarrazu (canton)

Tarrazú is the name of the 5th canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 297.50 km², and has a population of 15,142. The capital city of the canton is San Marcos. The Río Pirrís (also known as Río Parrita) establishes much of the northern boundary of the three-pronged canton, which reaches south across the Coastal Mountain Range to its border with the canton of Aguirre in Puntarenas Province.

San Marcos or San Marcos de Tarrazú is the capital city of the canton of Tarrazú in the province of San José in Costa Rica. It is also the name of the distrito (district) that includes the city. The district of San Marcos covers an area of 42.07 km², and has a population of 8,817. The city lies at an elevation of 1,429 meters above sea level in a mountainous area known as Los Santos, 70 kilometers south of the national capital city of San José.
