Hvar

Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, located off the Dalmatian coast, lying between the islands of Brač, Vis and Korčula. Approximately 68 km long, with a high east-west ridge of Mesozoic limestone and dolomite, the island of Hvar is unusual in the area for having a large fertile coastal plain, and fresh water springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas.

Grapčeva cave

Grapčeva spilja is a typical cave in rock of the Dalmatian island of Hvar, with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, and represents one of the most important archaeological sites in Croatia. There is only a foot way to this cave from the village of Humac. Usually, there entry to cave is closed, and visit is only allowed with guide. Excursions are from Humac village.

Humac (Hvar)

Humac is an uninhabited hamlet on Hvar, Croatia. It is connected by the D116 highway. Located 350 m above sea level, 10 km from Jelsa, is a very old village where man has been living for centuries. There are many simple houses made of stone in its surroundings called trim, built without binder in a way that they become narrower towards the top. Many of them have their original foundations from early Stone Age.

Šćedro

Šćedro is an island in the Adriatic Sea with an area of 8.36 km, 2.7 kilometres off the south coast of the island of Hvar, Croatia, opposite the settlement of Zavala. The name comes from štedri, meaning charitable in old Slavonic, because the island offers two deep, well-protected bays for shipping. The Latin name of Šćedro was Tauris from which derived the Italian Tauricola or Torcola. According to the Hvar Statute of 1331, the island was communal property and reserved for general pasturing.

Vrboska

Vrboska is a settlement on the north coast of the island of Hvar in Dalmatia, Croatia, in the Municipality of Jelsa. Founded in the 15th century as a fishing harbour, Vrboska is best known for the fortress Church of Sv. Marija (St Mary), built as a refuge for its inhabitants during the 16th century. Vrboska has a population of 526 as of the 2001 Census.
