Vyšší Brod Monastery

Vyšší Brod Monastery is one of the most important historical landmarks of South Bohemia. The Cistercian monastery is located on the right bank of the river Vltava, in the south-west part of the town of Vyšší Brod. It was founded in 1259.

Lipno nad Vltavou

Lipno nad Vltavou is a village located in the Český Krumlov District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It is located along the Vltava River. The village, when it was part of Czechoslovakia, hosted the 1967 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships.

Loučovice

Loučovice is a village in South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has around 1,950 inhabitants. First known settlements existed before year 1250. First written mention appears in a document from 1361, when the location was owned by monastery in Vyšší Brod. Starting in 1884 entrepreneur Arnošt Porák built large paper mill here (at its peak it employed around 1,800 workers). Electrified railway built in 1909-11 reached Loučovice. During 1938-45 the area became part of Nazi Germany.

Vyšší Brod

Sternstein

The Sternstein Mountain is situated in the north of Upper Austria, Austria in the districts of Bad Leonfelden and Vorderweißenbach. On its north flank it also reaches into the Czech Republic. As measured by the height above sea level of its summit it is 1125 meters high.
