Dobev

Dobev is a village in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has an area of 21,28 km² and 699 inhabitants in 5 parts (2001). It consists of Stará Dobev and Nová Dobev and it is situated on the road from Písek to Strakonice. The village lies in lowland and contains are several ponds. There is The Church of St. Brixi formerly from the nad of 14th century, the nave was built in the mid-of 18th century.

Volyňka

Volyňka is a river in the Czech Republic in the South Bohemian Region rising on the hill called Světlá hora and flowing 46.1 km northeast to city of Strakonice, where merging in Otava River. Volyňka flows through towns such Vimperk, Volyně, Strakonice and villages such as Lčovice and Čkyně. Four ancient settlements dated 600-500 BC were found around the river : Věnec near Lcovice, Němětice, Libětice and Třebohostice.

Katovice (Strakonice District)

Katovice, also known as Kátouce, is a small town in Strakonice District in the South Bohemian Region, in the Czech Republic. The village is located 5 kilometres to the west of the town of Strakonice, and it is 412 meters (1351 feet) above the sea level. It is situated in the center of the former Prachens region. Katovická hora (sometimes called "Kněží hora") is a hill, 2 km far from the town. On the top of Katovická hora, there used to be great Slavic hillfort.

Battle of Sudoměř

The Battle of Sudomĕř was fought on 25 March, 1420, between Catholic and Hussite forces. The Hussites were led by Břeněk of Švihov - who was killed in battle - and Jan Žižka, whose forces proved victorious. This was the second major battle of the Hussite Wars; the first battle, the Battle of Nekmíř, was more of a Hussite retreat than a true fight.
