Shinkolobwe
Shinkolobwe is the name of a town and a mine in the Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), located near the larger town of Likasi and about 120 miles northwest of Lubumbashi. The former mine was located in the centre of a 400 kilometre long belt of uranified minerals, stretching from south of Lubumbashi to Kalongwe, west of Kolwezi. Around 15,000 people live in the town. The mine produced uranium ore for the Manhattan Project. It was officially closed in 2004.

Luita
The Luita plant will be the largest copper and cobalt processing plant in Africa, and the largest cobalt facility in the world. It is being built in modules by the Central African Mining and Exploration Company (CAMEC) in Katanga Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Luita plant is designed to process copper and cobalt concentrate from Mukondo Mountain, which may be the richest cobalt reserve in the world.

Mulungwishi
Mulungwishi is a community in the Katanga Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located 100 miles northwest of Lubumbashi. Bishop John M. Springer and his wife established a mission station there in 1912. The United Methodist Church founded the Mulungwishi Seminary in 1951.
