Haut-Katanga Province (proposed)

Haut-Katanga Province is a proposed province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, originally due to be established when the country's new constitution was implemented in February 2009. The new province was to consist of the Haut-Katanga District and the cities of Lubumbashi and Likasi. Lubumbashi would be the capital. As of October 2010, the new province had not yet come into existence. In September 2011 the position of "Minister of Decentralization" was abolished.

The Lufilian Arc (or Lufilian Belt) is part of a system of orogenic belts in southern Africa formed during the Pan-African orogeny, a stage in the formation of the Gondwana supercontinent.
