Babahoyo River

The Babahoyo River is a river in western Ecuador, fed by tributaries rising in the Andes Mountains. It takes its name from the town of Babahoyo in Los Ríos. At Durán, it joins the Daule River to form the Guayas River, which continues to the Pacific Ocean. The river is the backbone of trade in the city of the same name. Much of west-central Ecuadorian agricultural produce, especially rice, sugarcane, fruits, balsa wood, and tagua nuts are grown here.

José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional José Joaquín de Olmedo) is an airport serving Guayaquil, a city in the province of Guayas in Ecuador. The airport was named after José Joaquín de Olmedo, a notable Ecuadorian poet, first mayor of the city of Guayaquil and former president of Ecuador. Its was changed from Simón Bolívar International Airport, which is currently the name on the airports in Caracas, Venezuela, and Santa Marta, Colombia.

Mapasingue

Mapasingue is a barrio (neighborhood) of the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. Mapasingue was an hacienda in the 19th century; in November 1859, a Peruvian army contingent occupied its lands as a result of an agreement between Peruvian President Ramon Castilla and Supreme Chief of Guayas Guillermo Franco, in the matter of the territorial dispute between the two countries. The peace treaty signed between the two regimes in 1860 was known as the Treaty of Mapasingue.
