Babahoyo River

The Babahoyo River is a river in western Ecuador, fed by tributaries rising in the Andes Mountains. It takes its name from the town of Babahoyo in Los Ríos. At Durán, it joins the Daule River to form the Guayas River, which continues to the Pacific Ocean. The river is the backbone of trade in the city of the same name. Much of west-central Ecuadorian agricultural produce, especially rice, sugarcane, fruits, balsa wood, and tagua nuts are grown here.

Milagro, Ecuador

Milagro (Spanish for miracle) is a city located in Guayas, Ecuador. It is the seat of Milagro Canton. Milagro is the second largest city in the province of Guayas. As of the census of 2007, there were 180,103 people residing within the canton limits. Milagro is known for its impressive progress in agriculture, industry and commerce. Sugar cane and pineapples are the most important crop.

The airport was named after José Joaquín de Olmedo, a notable Ecuadorian poet, first mayor of the city of Guayaquil and former president of Ecuador. Its was changed from Simón Bolívar International Airport, which is currently the name on the airports in Caracas, Venezuela, and Santa Marta, Colombia.

Tarqui, Guayaquil Canton

Tarqui is an urban parish in Guayaquil Canton, Guayas, Ecuador, named after the Battle of Tarqui. Tarqui is the largest and most populous parish in Guayaquil. It occupies the northern half of the city. As of the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 835,486 inhabitants, 42.9% of the population in the city. Its southeastern portion belongs to the downtown.
