HMS Eridge (L68)

HMS Eridge was a Hunt class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was launched in 1940 and served during the Second World War. On 29 May 1942, Eridge assisted HMS Hero and HMS Hurworth in sinking the German submarine U-568. While shelling Axis positions off El Daba, Egypt, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:31|7|N|28|26|E||| | |name= }}, on 29 August 1942, she was permanently disabled by a 450mm torpedo fired by the Italian motor torpedo boat MTSM-228. Six of her crew died in the action.

RAF El Daba

El Daba is a village and rail station about 180 km West of Alexandria by road. RAF El Daba (othewise Desert Landing Ground 105) is a former Royal Air Force military airfield located approximately 4.6 kilometres south-southeast of the village. El Daba was a pre–World War II airfield, one of a number of DLGs created in the Western Desert of Egypt after the Munich Crisis of the late 1930s.
