Cabañas Department

Cabañas is a department of El Salvador in the north central part of the country. The capital is Sensuntepeque. Sensuntepeque means 400 hills because around the department there are small hills. One of the coldest regions in El Salvador and Certified place of Tourism, strongly recommended. Cabañas was classified as a department in February 1873. It is reported to have 1,104 km² and over 200,000 people. The department is known in producing beans and sugar canes, among other items.

San José Las Flores, Chalatenango

San José Las Flores is a municipality and city in Chalatenango Department, El Salvador. It played an important and strategic role during the Salvadoran Civil War. The town was one of the first settlements to be repopulated by refugees who had been driven away by government bombing during the early 1980s. In 1986, in defiance of the military, the civilian population returned to reconstruct the village.

La Virtud

La Virtud is a municipality in the Honduran department of Lempira. It is one of the municipalities of the Lempira department. It is also one of the furthest from the big cities in Honduras but near to El Salvador border. It takes up to 4 hours to get there taking either way of Gracias or Santa Rosa de Copán. However, the best way is via Santa Rosa de Copan-San Marcos de Ocotepeque-Cololaca-Valladolid-La Virtud.

Ilobasco

Ilobasco is a municipality in the Cabañas department of El Salvador. It is located 30 miles (48 kilometers) northeast of the capital, San Salvador. This town is known country wide (and internationally) for its clay (other materials also used) craftsmanship or pottery. The clay is extracted and prepared locally. The clay work includes the "miniatures", which are small representations of daily scenes as lived by Salvadorans, no bigger than 2 inches tall.
