Lake Olomega

Lake Olomega is a large lake in the southeastern part of El Salvador. In the past few years Lake Olomega has suffered from an infestation of Water hyacinth which has caused problems for wildlife, fishing, and tourism. Lake Olomega is located next to the town of Olomega (population 4000). The community relies heavily on fishing and ecotourism. The canton Los Riitos has geothermal water and can most easily be reached by boat (as long as the nimfa does not prevent boat travel).

San Miguel (volcano)

San Miguel (also known as Chaparrastique) is a stratovolcano in central-eastern El Salvador. It is situated about 15 km southwest of the city of San Miguel. It is one of the most active volcanoes in this country. The 2002 eruption had flowed lava into nearby ranches up to the main highway.

San Miguel, El Salvador

San Miguel is the third most populous city in El Salvador after Santa Ana and the third most important Salvadorean city. It is located 138 km east of the capital, San Salvador. It is also the capital of the department of San Miguel and a municipality. The population of the city in (2007) was 218,410 habitants.
