Usulután Department

Usulután from the Nawat language (meaning "city of the ocelots") is a department of El Salvador in the southeast of the country (Lenca region). The capital is Usulután. It is El Salvador's largest department. It has an area of 2,130 km² and a population of over 350,000. The department was created on June 22, 1865.

Usulután (volcano)

Usulután is a stratovolcano in central El Salvador, rising above the coastal plain between the San Vicente and San Miguel volcanoes, and just east of Taburete volcano. The volcano is topped by a 1.3 kilometres wide summit crater which is breached to the east.
