Semera

Semera or Samera is a new town on the Awash–Asseb highway in north-east Ethiopia, planned to replace Asaita as the capital of the Afar Region. Located in the Administrative Zone 1, Semera has a latitude and longitude of {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:11|47|32|N|41|0|31|E| |primary |name= }}. One of the completed buildings is Semera Health College, which began holding classes in 2007.

Dubti

Dubti is a town in north-east Ethiopia. Located in the Administrative Zone 1 of the Afar Region, this town has a latitude and longitude of {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:11|44|N|41|05|E||| |primary |name= }} with an elevation of 378 meters above sea level. A UN-EUE mission, accompanied by two non-government organizations, surveying conditions in the Afar Region and visited Dubti 13 December 1995, at which time the town had one of two hospitals in Afar.

Dubti (woreda)

Dubti is one of the woredas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Administrative Zone 1, Dubti is bordered on the south by the Somali Region, on the southwest by Mille, on the west by Chifra, on the northwest by the Administrative Zone 4, on the north by Kori, on the northeast by Elidar, on the east by Asayita, and on the southeast by Afambo. Towns in Dubti include Date Bahri, Dubti, Logiya, Sardo and Semera. Kori woreda was separated from Dubti.

Afar Triangle

The Afar Triangle (also called the Afar Depression or the Danakil Depression) is a geological depression that is caused by the Afar Triple Junction which is part of the Great Rift Valley. It overlaps Eritrea, Djibouti and the entire Afar Region of Ethiopia. The Afar Triangle includes the Danakil Depression and the lowest point in Africa, Lake Asal . Only the Awash River flows into the area, where it ends in a chain of lakes that increase in salinity.
