For the woreda of the same name in the Oromia Region, see Gursum, Oromia (woreda). Gursum is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Jijiga Zone, Gursum is bordered on the south by Babille, on the west by the Oromia Region, on the north by Ajersagora, on the east by Jijiga, and on the southeast by Kebri Beyah. Fugnan Bira (meaning "near a nose" because of its proximity to the last part of a mountain chain) is a town in east-central Ethiopia. It is commonly known by its more recent name, Gursum. Located in the Misraq Hararghe Zone of the Oromia Region, on a high plateau at the southern base of Mount Kondudo, which gives the town a climate similar to Harar.
