Syðrugøta
Syðrugøta is a village on southwest of the Faroese island of Eysturoy in the municipality of Gøta. The 2005 population was 410. Its postal code is FO 513. The famous Faroese singer Eivør Pálsdóttir was born here in 1983. Also Tróndur í Gøtu the most famous Viking in Faroese history is said to have lived in the village. Many Many stories and facts back up that claim. Several excavations have shown that Syðrugøta is one of the oldest settlements in the Faroe Islands.

Norðoyatunnilin
Norðoyatunnilin (The Northern Isles Tunnel) is with 6,300 m the longest tunnel of the Faroe Islands. It connects the town of Leirvík on Eysturoy under the strait Leirvíksfjørður with the city of Klaksvík on Borðoy. The Norðoyatunnilin is a road tunnel with two lanes and was finished in April 2006. The official opening was on the 19th of April 2006. The specific plans for a tunnel to connect the island of Eysturoy and the island of Borðoy are not entirely new.
