Saint Michel d'Aiguilhe

Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe is a chapel in Aiguilhe, near Le Puy-en-Velay, France, built in 962 on a volcanic formation 85 metres high. The chapel is reached by 268 steps carved into the rock. It was built to celebrate the return from the pilgrimage of Saint James. In 1429, the mother of Joan of Arc, Isabelle Romée, was said to have come to the site to pray.

Le Puy Cathedral

Le Puy Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France, in Le Puy-en-Velay, Auvergne. It has been a centre of pilgrimage in its own right since before the time of Charlemagne, as well as forming part of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Since 1998 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the "Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France". It is the seat of the Bishop of Le Puy.

Lignon du Velay

The Lignon du Velay (French: le Lignon du Velay) is a 84.5 km long river in the Ardèche and Haute-Loire départements, south-central France. Its source is near Chaudeyrolles. It flows generally north. It is a right tributary of the Loire into which it flows at Pont de Lignon, a hamlet in Monistrol-sur-Loire.
