Lorraines Branch
The Lorraines Branch is a canal in central France, some 50 km east of Bourges. It is a disused branch of the Canal latéral à la Loire now serving as a feeder from the Allier River. At one time it carried traffic from the Allier via a circular lock. The race, contested over 70 laps, was the tenth round of the 2005 Formula One season, and was won by Renault driver Fernando Alonso. McLaren driver Kimi Räikkönen, Alonso's main title rival, finished the race in second position whlist Michael Schumacher completed the podium for the Ferrari team.

Felipe Massa, who started the race from pole position, finished second in the latter Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton third in a McLaren car.
