Cîteaux Abbey

Cîteaux Abbey is a Roman Catholic abbey located in Saint-Nicolas-lès-Cîteaux, south of Dijon, France. Today it belongs to the Trappists, or Cistercians of the Strict Observance (OCSO). The Cistercian order takes its name from this mother house of Cîteaux, earlier Cisteaux, near Nuits-Saint-Georges. The abbey has about 35 members.

Tille (river)

The Tille is an 83-kilometre-long river of eastern France, a right tributary of the Saône. It is formed by the confluence of three small streams near Cussey-les-Forges, on the Plateau of Langres. The Tille flows south through the following towns: Til-Châtel, Arc-sur-Tille and Genlis. The Tille flows into the Saône in Les Maillys, 8 km south of Auxonne.

Charmes-Chambertin

Charmes-Chambertin is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) and Grand Cru vineyard for red wine in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy, with Pinot Noir as the main grape variety. It is located in the southern part of the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin and on the lower hillside east of Chambertin (on the other side of the Route des Grands Crus), north of Mazoyères-Chambertin and south of Griotte-Chambertin. The AOC was created in 1937.

Latricières-Chambertin is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) and Grand Cru vineyard for red wine in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy, with Pinot Noir as the main grape variety. Griotte-Chambertin is located within the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. It is situated above (to the west of) the Route des Grands Crus. It borders on Chambertin in the north, Mazoyères-Chambertin in the east (across the road), and on Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru vineyard Aux Combottes in the south.

Griotte-Chambertin

Griotte-Chambertin is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) and Grand Cru vineyard for red wine in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy, with Pinot Noir as the main grape variety. Griotte-Chambertin is located within the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. It is situated on the lower part of the hillside among the other "Chambertin", on the eastern (downhill) side of the Route des Grands Crus.
