Canal du Centre (France)

The Canal du Centre, originally known as the Canal du Charollais, is a French canal running from Digoin, where it now joins the Canal latéral à la Loire, to the River Saône in Chalon-sur-Saône. It was opened in 1792 and made it possible for the first time for boat traffic to pass from the north of France to the south. It is 112.1 km long and has 61 locks. Most of its traffic came from the coal mines at Montceau-les-Mines.

Basilica of Paray-le-Monial

The Basilica of Paray-le-Monial is a Romanesque church in Paray-le-Monial, Bourgogne, eastern France. Built from the 12th century, on the site of a 10th-century monastery founded by count Lambert of Chalon, it was a small-scale version of the Abbey of Cluny. It was completed in the 14th century, although some sections were added in the 18th century or renovated in the 19th century. As a priory, it was under the authority of Cluny and was a popular pilgrimage site.

The Arroux is a river in central France, right tributary of the river Loire. Its source is east of Arnay-le-Duc, in Côte-d'Or.
