Loing

The Loing is a 142 km long river in central France, a left tributary of the Seine. Its source is in Sainte-Colombe-sur-Loing, in the south of the Yonne département. The Loing flows into the Seine in Saint-Mammès, near Moret-sur-Loing. The part of the Briare Canal between Rogny-les-Sept-Écluses and Montargis runs parallel to the Loing.

Anus, Yonne

Anus is a populated place in Burgundy, France, within the commune of Fouronnes. Anus was anciently parished with Fouronnes, the parish sometimes being called Fouronne et Anus. In 1848, the two together had seventy households, of which nineteen were at Anus. In the 16th century, Anus had its own seigneur, who in 1598 was Guillaume Girard.

Clamecy Cathedral

Clamecy Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Bethléem), now the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bethléem (Our Lady of Bethlehem) in Clamecy, France, was started in the 12th and completed in the 15th century. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Bethlehem, in Palestine, was favored by William IV, the Count of Nevers, and inherited land near Clamecy from him where a hospital had been established.
