Étang de la Gazonne, (English: Grassy Pond), is a 29 ha lake that provides water for the workings of the Canal de Briare. Hugues Cosnier, designer of the canal, planned a 3.25 mile long waterway from the River Trezée to the Gazonne. Arboretum national des Barres

The Arboretum national des Barres (35 hectares) is a national arboretum located in Nogent-sur-Vernisson, Loiret, Centre, France. It is open daily in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The Domaine des Barres (283 hectares) was purchased in 1821 by Philippe André de Vilmorin for his studies in forestry. Briare Canal

The Canal de Briare is one of the oldest canals in France. It is the first summit level canal in Europe that was built using pound locks, connecting the Loire and Seine valleys. It is 57km long and is part of the Bourbonnais route from Saint-Mammès on the Seine to Chalon-sur-Saône on the Saône River. From Briare to Buges, the canal rises through the first 12 locks some 41 m and then falls 85 m through the remaining 24 locks.
