Beuvron (Loire)

The Beuvron is a river in central France, left tributary of the river Loire. Its source is near the village Coullons, southwest of Gien. The Beuvron flows generally west through the following départements and towns: Loiret: Cerdon Loir-et-Cher: Lamotte-Beuvron, Neung-sur-Beuvron, Bracieux The Beuvron flows into the river Loire at Candé-sur-Beuvron, near Chaumont-sur-Loire.

Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre

Not to be confused with the Château de Fougères in Ille-et-Vilaine. The Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre is a castle in the commune of Fougères-sur-Bièvre in the Loir-et-Cher département of France. Originally an 11th century structure, it was entirely rebuilt at the end of the 15th century, only the large square keep being preserved. The first works kept the military aspect (ditches, cannon-holes, wall walk, etc.

Château de Chaumont

The Château de Chaumont is a castle in Chaumont-sur-Loire, Loir-et-Cher, France. The castle was founded in the 10th century by Odo I, Count of Blois. After Pierre d'Amboise rebelled against Louis XI, the king ordered the castle's destruction. Later in the 15th century Château de Chaumont was rebuilt by Charles I d'Amboise. Protected as a monument historique since 1840, the château was given into state ownership in 1938 and is now open to the public.

1947 BOAC Douglas C-47 crash

The 1947 BOAC Douglas C-47 Crash occurred on 11 January 1947 when Douglas C-47A G-AGJX of British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) crashed into a hill at Stowting, Kent, in southeast England, killing five people outright, with a further three dying from injuries received. The aircraft had been operating a scheduled international flight to West Africa via France. Poor weather caused the aircraft to attempt to divert.
