Allaine

The Allaine (named Allan in its lower course) is a 65 km long river in northwestern Switzerland and eastern France. Its source is in the village Charmoille, in the Swiss Jura mountains. It is a left tributary of the Doubs, which it joins a few km downstream from Montbéliard. Lieu-Croissant Abbey

Lieu-Croissant Abbey was a Cistercian abbey in Geney, a commune of Doubs in France. It was first built in 1134 and it was destroyed during the French Revolution in 1791. During the Crusades on the way from Milan to Cologne, the relics of the Magi were entrusted to the monks of this abbey, earning it the nickname Abbey of the Three Kings.

Battle of the Lisaine

The Battle of the Lisaine was fought from 15 January to 17 January 1871 between Prussian and French forces. The French were led by Charles Denis Bourbaki, and were attempting to relieve the Siege of Belfort. The Prussians prepared multiple corps, about 52000 men to halt the French advance of about 152000 men. The Prussian corps had their outer posts overran quite swiftly but the Prussians forced back the French forces.

The County of Montbéliard, was a feudal county of the Holy Roman Empire based around the city of Montbéliard in the present-day Franche-Comté region of France. From 1444 onwards it was held by the House of Württemberg.
