Madeleine (river)

Madeleine is a river in eastern France, in the Territoire de Belfort département. It is 25 km long, and its basin area is 92 km². It begins in the Vosges mountains, near the commune of Lamadeleine-Val-des-Anges. It joins the river Saint-Nicolas in the village Bretagne at 340 m above sea level to form the river Bourbeuse. The river Bourbeuse is a tributary to the river Allan, which is a tributary to the river Doubs.

Porrentruy Castle

Porrentruy Castle is a castle in the municipality of Porrentruy of the Canton of Jura in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. Construction of the castle took place between the mid-thirteenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth century. The oldest part is the thirteenth century Réfous Tower (Tour Réfous). Fourteenth century ramparts survive on the western and northern sides.

Mont-Terrible

Mont-Terrible was one of the 130 départements of Napoleonic France, with its capital at Porrentruy. The Mont Terrible for which the département was named is now known as mont Terri, a peak of 804 m near Courgenay, now in the canton of Jura, Switzerland. The département was created in 1793 with the annexation of the short-lived Rauracian Republic, created a few months earlier, in the previous year, from a part of the annexed Bishopric of Basel.
