Saint-Denis-près-Martel is a railway station in Saint-Denis-lès-Martel, Midi-Pyrénées, France. The station is located on the Brive-Toulouse (via Capdenac) and Souillac - Viescamp-sous-Jallès railway lines. The station is served by Lunéa (night train) and TER (local) services operated by SNCF. The station is also on the preserved railway of the Chemin de Fer Touristique du Haut Quercy (CFTHQ) which operates between Martel and Saint-Denis-lès-Martel, a distance of 7 km.

Uxellodunum

Uxellodunum is an iron age hill fort, or oppidum, located above the river Dordogne near the modern-day French village of Vayrac in the Lot department. This stronghold lay within the lands of the Cadurci tribe. According to Aulus Hirtius in his addendum to Julius Caesar's Commentaries on the Gallic War, the last revolt against Rome's authority in Gaul occurred here, and was brutally punished.

La Chapelle-aux-Saints 1

La Chapelle-aux-Saints 1 (also known as "The Old Man") is a partial skeleton of the species Homo neanderthalensis. It was discovered in La Chapelle-aux-Saints, France by A. and J. Bouyssonie, and L. Bardon in 1908. It is the remains of a male neanderthal of about 40 years of age whose anatomy is characterized by loss of teeth, advanced resorption of bone in the mandible and signs of advanced arthritis.

Florisbad Skull

The Florisbad Skull was originally discovered by Prof. T.F. Dreyer at the Florisbad site. Prof. Dreyer classified it as Homo helmei to mark its distinctiveness from Homo sapiens fossils. It is now generally either described as "archaic H. sapiens" or assigned to H. heidelbergensis. It may, however, be an intermediate form between H. heidelbergensis and H. sapiens, in which case retention of the H. helmei classification could be appropriate.
