Oust

The Oust is a river in Brittany, France, right tributary of the Vilaine. Its source is in the hills between Corlay and Quintin. It flows generally southeast, through the following départements and towns: Côtes-d'Armor: Uzel Morbihan: Rohan, Josselin, Malestroit Ille-et-Vilaine: Redon The Oust flows into the river Vilaine in Redon. The part of the Oust between Rohan and Redon has been made navigable for small ships, and forms part of the Canal de Nantes à Brest.

Redon Abbey

Redon Abbey, or Abbey of Saint-Sauveur, Redon ("Abbey of the Holy Saviour"; French: Abbaye Saint-Sauveur de Redon), in Redon in the present Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany, France, is a former Benedictine abbey founded in 832 by Saint Conwoïon, at the point where the Oust flows into the Vilaine, on the border between Neustria and Brittany.

Battle of Ballon

The Battle of Ballon took place on 22 November 845 between the forces of Charles the Bald, king of West Francia, and Nominoë Duke of Brittany. Nominoë was appropriating border territory and opposing Charles' attempt to impose Frankish authority. Nominoë defeated Charles, initiating a period of Breton expansion and consolidation of power.
