Pfinz
The Pfinz is a right tributary of the Rhine in Baden-Württemberg. Its origin is located at the northern edge of the Black Forest near the Straubenhardt borough of Pfinzweiler. Near Durlach it enters the Upper Rhine Plain and continues, splitting into several beds and canals, in northwesterly direction through several towns and villages north of Karlsruhe for example Staffort. The Pfinz discharges into the Rhine near Dettenheim-Rußheim.

Graben-Neudorf station
Graben-Neudorf station is the focal point of the town of Graben-Neudorf in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is of particular importance for rail transport because it is a railway junction, which is crossed by the Rhine Railway between Mannheim and Karlsruhe, connecting to the Rhine Valley Railway to Basle, and the Bruhrain Railway (Bruhrainbahn) between Bruchsal and Germersheim. In addition, the strategic railway opened in 1895 to Karlsruhe branched off the original Rhine Railway here.

Germersheim station
Germersheim station is a junction station in the south of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. It is the terminus of lines S3, S4 and S33 of the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn and the terminus of lines S51 and S52 of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn. The station lies on the Schifferstadt–Wörth line and the Bruhrain Railway to Graben-Neudorf and Bruchsal. Until 1984 it was the terminus of the Lower Queich Valley Railway from Landau.

Siege of Philippsburg (1734)
The Siege of Philippsburg was conducted by French forces against forces in the fortress of Philippsburg in the Rhine River valley during the War of the Polish Succession. The Duke of Berwick led 100,000 men up the Rhine Valley in opposition to Austrian forces, of which 60,000 were detached to invest the fortress at Philippsburg, beginning on 1 June 1734. A relief column of 35,000 under the aging Prince Eugene of Savoy was unsuccessful in actually relieving the siege.
