Battle of Schellenberg

The Battle of Schellenberg, also known as the Battle of Donauwörth, was fought on 2 July 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession. The engagement was part of the Duke of Marlborough's campaign to save the Habsburg capital of Vienna from a threatened advance by King Louis XIV's Franco-Bavarian forces ranged in southern Germany.

Schmutter

The Schmutter is a river in Bavaria, Germany, a right tributary of the Danube. Its source is 6 km southwest of Schwabmünchen, in the Swabia region of Bavaria. It flows north, and for several tens of kilometers it flows parallel to the Lech, at only a few km west of the Lech. It flows into the Danube near Donauwörth. Towns along the Schmutter include Fischach, Neusäß, Gablingen and Mertingen.
