Plesse Castle

Plesse Castle is situated to the north of Göttingen in Germany, close to the village of Bovenden. The castle was transferred in 1015 from the private estate of Meinwerk, bishop of Paderborn to the city of Paderborn. Since 1150 it is the seat of the noble lords of Plesse, who named themselves for the castle. Holy Roman emperor Henry VI traded Plesse Castle in 1192 for Desenberg Castle close to Warburg in Westphalia, but the trade was already reverted in 1195.

Harste

Harste is a village to the northwest of Göttingen, Lower Saxony, Germany, belonging to the Gemeinde Bovenden. While the date of its founding is unknown, archaeological investigations conducted in the 1980s revealed Grubenhaueser from the 7th century and what appears to be continuous occupation since then at least until around the end of the 15th century. The first archival record of the community is from 952. Presently existing houses date back well over a century.

Nikolausberg

Nikolausberg is a northeastern borough of the university town of Göttingen, Germany. Its name derives from a legend according to which three pilgrims came to the church in 999 AD, of whom one left relics of Nicholas of Myra following his death there. However, the name Nikolausberg has apparently been used only from the 17th century. The village was originally known as Ulrideshusen, with other variants recorded as Adelratheshusen, Ulradeshusen, Olerdeshausen, and Olrikshusen.
