Madenburg Castle

The ruin of Madenburg Castle is one of the biggest and oldest castle complexes in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The castle was built on a cliff on the outskirts of the Palatinate Forest towards the Rhine rift. The ruin that is surrounded by forest lies on 458m overlooking Eschbach. Despite their power of resistance, the castle was destroyed during the War of the Grand Alliance by the troups of Joseph de Montclar. The castle was never rebuilt.

Landau-Land

Landau-Land is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated on the eastern edge of the Palatinate forest, around Landau. The seat of the municipality is in Landau, itself not part of the municipality.

Queichheim

Queichheim is a quarter of Landau in der Pfalz in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Queichheim, with about 3,100 inhabitants as of 2004, is located east of the railroad line from Karlsruhe to Neustadt, south of the Queich River, and it borders on the inner city.
