Carl-Zeiss-Gymnasium Jena

The Carl-Zeiss-Gymnasium Jena is a state-funded German elite Gymnasium (grammar school) for highly gifted students in the fields of math, science, and technology. Before changing its profile to fully focus and these aspects, it used to be a regular German public Gymnasium with a special separate school section (Spezialschulteil) attached to it. The school is named after the famous optician Carl Zeiss and is located in the city of Jena in Germany .

Planetarium Jena

The Zeiss-Planetarium in Jena, Germany is the oldest continuously operating planetarium in the world. It was opened on July 18, 1926. The Zeiss-Planetarium is a projection planetarium. The planets and fixed stars are projected onto the inner surface of a white cupola. The Zeiss-Planetarium is owned and operated by the Ernst-Abbe-Stiftung. Engineered by German engineer Walther Bauersfeld.

Botanischer Garten Jena

The Botanischer Garten Jena (4.5 hectares) is the second oldest botanical garden in Germany, maintained by the University of Jena and located at Fürstengraben 26, Jena, Thuringia, Germany. It is open daily; an admission fee is charged. The garden was first established in 1586 as a hortus medicus, six years after the establishment of the Botanical Garden in Leipzig in 1580.

University of Jena

Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU) (German Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, colloquially Uni Jena), is a public research university located in Jena, Thuringia, Germany. The university was established in 1558 and is counted among the ten oldest universities in Germany. It is affiliated with 6 Nobel Prize winners, most recently in 2000 when Jena graduate Herbert Kroemer won the Nobel Prize for physics.
