Wipper (Unstrut)

The Wipper is a river in Thuringia, Germany, left tributary of the Unstrut. It originates in the Eichsfeld area, northwestern Thuringia, near Leinefelde-Worbis. The total length of the Wipper is 95 km. The Wipper joins the Unstrut near Heldrungen. Towns along the Wipper include Bleicherode and Sondershausen.

Thuringian Gate

The Thuringian Gate near Sachsenburg, a district of Oldisleben, west of Heldrungen in central Germany, is where the gorge of the river Unstrut breaks out of the Thuringian Basin through the Hainleite and Schmücke hills to the north. It is also known as the Sachsenburg Gate. This topographical feature carved out by the Unstrut has always been used as a communication route. Today the B 85 and B 86 federal roads and the Sangerhausen–Erfurt railway pass through the gorge.

Leubingen

The Leubingen Tumulus is an early bronze age royal grave of the Unetice culture dating to about 1940 BC, located near the hills of Kyffhäuser in the Leubingen district. in the eastern German state of Thuringia, A burial chamber on the site, was first unearthed in 1877 by art professor, archaeologist Friedrich Klopfleisch (1831–1898). This is the grave of a member of an elite individual based on the rich contents of the burial chamber as well as the presence of metal in the funerary gifts.
