Battle of Pydna
The Battle of Pydna in 168 BC between Rome and the Macedonian Antigonid dynasty saw the further ascendancy of Rome in the Hellenic/Hellenistic world and the end of the Antigonid line of kings, whose power traced back to Alexander the Great. Haliacmon

The Thermaic Gulf is a gulf of the Aegean Sea located immediately south of Thessaloniki regional unit, east of Pieria and Imathia, and west of Chalkidiki. It was named after the ancient town of Therma, which was situated on the northeast coast of the gulf (Therma was later renamed Thessalonica). Near Thessaloniki, the length (north-south) of the gulf is about 100 km, while its width (east-west) is about 5 km.

Kastania, Pieria
Kastania is a village in Pieria, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Kolindros. Its population as of the 2001 census was 423. Wealth derives from its surrounding farm land and from shipping.
