Massacre of the Acqui Division
The Massacre of the Acqui Division, also known as the Cephalonia Massacre (Italian: Eccidio di Cefalonia, German: Massaker auf Kefalonia), was the mass execution of the men of the Italian 33rd Acqui Infantry Division by the Germans on the island of Cephalonia, Greece, in September 1943, following the Italian armistice during the Second World War. About 5000 soldiers were massacred and others drowned or were otherwise murdered.

Melissani Cave
Melissani Cave or Melissani Lake, also Melisani is a cave located on the island of Kefalonia, northwest of Sami, about 5 km SE of Agia Efthymia, NE of Argostoli and NW of Poros. The Ionian Sea lies to the east with the Strait of Ithaca. Forests surrounds the cave and the mountain slope is to the west. Near the cave is the entry to the cave with parking lots and is passed almost in the middle of the main road linking Sami and Agia Efimia especially to the northern part of the island.

Karavomylos is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Sami, on the island of Cephalonia, Greece. Its population was 342 in 2001. It is situated on the coast, 2 km west of Sami, 6 km southeast of Agia Effimia and 15 km northeast of Argostoli.

The Sami Bay is a bay situated east of Kefalonia. The total length is approximately 5 km long and is approximately 3 km wide from Sami to Cape Dichalia. The bay is bordered with Agia Efymia Bay to the north and the Strait of Ithaca. The mountains surround the gulf in the southwest and southwest while a small valley is to the south. The bay features an including one on the road north to the northern part of the island. There is a ferry route linking to the ports of Ithaca and Patras.

It is bordered by Sami Bay to the south and the Strait of Ithaca to the northeast. The mountains surround the gulf to the east, while a small valley lies in the area of the port of Agia Effimia. There is a ferry route linking Agia Effimia and the island of Ithaca.
