Lake Trichonida
Lake Trichonida is the largest natural lake in Greece. It is situated in the eastern part of Aetolia-Acarnania, southeast of the town Agrinio and northwest of Nafpaktos. It covers an area of 98.6 square kilometres with a maximum length of 19 kilometres and maximum depth of 58 metres . One million years ago the lake was much larger, and covered the central part of Aetolia-Acarnania, a part that is now a plain. The Panaitoliko mountains are situated to the north and northeast of the lake.

Thermos (Aetolia)
Thermos (also known as Thermon or Thermum) was an ancient Greek sanctuary, which served as the regular meeting place of the Aetolian League. Its focal point was the temple of Apollo Thermios famous for the archaic terra cotta metopes decorated with painted scenes from mythology which are among the earliest examples of this art form in Greece.

Calydon
Calydon was an ancient Greek city in Aetolia, situated on the west bank of the river Evenus. According to Greek mythology, the city took its name from its founder Calydon, son of Aetolus. Close to the city stood Mount Zygos, the slopes of which provided the setting for the hunt of the Calydonian Boar. The city housed the important Aetolian sanctuary known as the Laphrion, dedicated to Artemis Laphria and Apollo Laphrios.

Varasova
Varasova is a mountain range dominating the northern part of Aetolia-Acarnania in western Greece. Its length is approximately 7 km long from northwest to southeast and its width is approximately 2 km wide from southeast to northwest. The Gulf of Patras lies to the south. It is located east of the Evinos river and west of Antirrio. The mountain is surrounded by the GR-5/E55 and the future Ionia Odos to the northeast. The mountain is one of the steepest in Greece with slopes as steep as 75°.
