Mixco Viejo

Mixco Viejo ("Old Mixco"), occasionally spelt Mixcu Viejo, is an archaeological site in the north east of the Chimaltenango department of Guatemala, some 50 kilometres to the north of Guatemala City and 4 kilometres from the junction of the rivers Pixcaya and Motagua. It is a moderate sized ruined city of the Postclassic Maya civilization.

Sierra de Chuacús

The Sierra de Chuacús is situated in the central highlands of Guatemala, and runs southeast from El Quiché to Baja Verapaz. Its northwestern border is marked by the Chixoy River basin in Uspantán, which separates it from the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes. Its eastern border is marked by the Salamá River which separates it from the Sierra de las Minas. Its southeastern border is defined by the Motagua River valley.

San José Poaquil

San José Poaquil is a municipality in the Chimaltenango department of Guatemala. San José Poaquil, like many other Mayan indigenous towns throughout the western highlands, suffered greatly under the severe military repression of the early 1980s. In 2002, 76 human remains were exhumed from mass graves by the Forensic Anthropology Foundation of Guatemala (FAFG).

Cubulco

Cubulco is a small town located in the Guatemalan department of Baja Verapaz, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:15|6|30|N|90|37|50|W| | |name= }}. It serves as the administrative seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. The municipality covers 444 km² and, in 2004, had a population of around 42,000.
