Konawaruk River
The Konawaruk River is a river in western Guyana. It is a tributary of the Essequibo River, joining it just south of the Potaro River mouth at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:5|18|N|58|55|W||| | |name= }}. Mining, especially for gold, is the primary industry along the river. Pollution from extraction processes, including the use of missile dredges, has had a severe effect on the ecology of the river.

Tumatumari
Tumatumari is a community in the Potaro-Siparuni Region of Guyana, located some 15 km upstream of the confluence of the Potaro and Essequibo Rivers. It was initially an Amerindian settlement but is now a mixture of different race groups similar to that of Mahdia. The Amerindians found here are from the Arawak tribe. The area was believed to be rich in gold and diamonds and mining was the main economic activity for several years.

Potaro River
The Potaro River is a river in Guyana in northern South America. The source of the Potaro River is in the Mount Ayanganna area of the Pakaraima Mountains in the North Rupununi Savannahs. The river runs for approximately 225 km before flowing into the Essequibo River, Guyana's largest river. Nine waterfalls are found on the Potaro River, most notable being Kaieteur Falls and Tumatumari Falls. Below Kaieteur Falls lie Amatuk Falls and Waratuk Falls.

Denham Suspension Bridge
The Denham Suspension Bridge, also known as the Garraway Stream Bridge, links Mahdia to Bartica. This suspension bridge was constructed over the Potaro River in an area known as Garraway Stream by a Scottish civil engineer and general contractor, John Aldi, in November, 1933. The namesake for the bridge was the Governor of British Guiana (1930–1935), Sir Edward Brandis Denham (1876–1938).
